At approximately 2:15PM Stations 139 and 131 were dispatched for an MVA with Rescue needed at the entrance to Walmart on RT. 38. Upon arrival, Chief 1300 found a car had been hit by a tractor trailer and one victim was trapped in the car. 1311 and 1319 were ordered to stretch a handline and set up for extrication. EMS stabilized the patient and extrication was performed by 131 members to remove patient from vehicle. South Star was landed next to the accident scene and the victim was flown to the trauma center. Great teamwork by both stations resulted in a good outcome. The patient was still hanging in there as of last report by the PD.
